Lord Mayor condemns attack on members of An Garda Síochána

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Brendan Carr, has issued the following statement “I strongly condemn the attack on two members of An Garda Síochána which occurred in the Finglas area last night. I would like to pass on best wishes on behalf of the people of Dublin to the two Gardaí and wish them a full and speedy recovery.”

The Lord Mayor went on to say “while I accept that the public may have concerns in relation to some ongoing issues within the Gardaí, the ordinary men and women who are working on the streets to protect us all, are doing a great job in some very difficult circumstances. They fully deserve our respect and appreciation and I would urge the public to show their support for them by providing any information in relation to last night’s attack.

He added “in these challenging times it is vital that the trust between the public and the Gardaí is reaffirmed and that everyone plays a role in taking crime off our streets.”
